Being disgusted ain't enough anymore.

A not so strange but deep and impactful thing happened today.

We were enjoying our last day in Goa-walking around the beach facing the beautiful ocean, after lunch we sat quietly looking at beach from within the shade of the restaurant when we hear the owner of the huts yell at someone, on looking at that direction we found a man half clad with sand all over him, come to find out the owner said he was filming a foreign lady while she was with her family sunbathing, mind you with her two little kids and husband, my mom which I did not realize then had also seen him do the same but kept quiet feeling utter disgust within her, the other guy who was with the owner went along with him and confronted the dude with two slaps, both of which he rightly deserved.

He was pulled inside the shack and claimed he was just video calling his wife "Gangaram"- what a joke.

The owner gave him a lesson he'd remember but more than that, it brings me to two questions

i) Why did my mother and the rest who saw him pull out his phone and record, keep quiet?

ii) Can women have no sense of freedom without being harassed by these perverts, when can we really step out without feeling any form of danger?

To both these questions, I have an answer just for one-

keeping quiet and feeling disgusted has been a staple response for any form of harassment women face be it on their way to work, at the station, going to pick up their children, at shopping or even little girls going to school.

We yell, we riot only when someone crosses all the lines of humanity and descend to utter gruesomeness, but today I saw hope when those two owners rose against this behavior all for the welfare of a woman on vacation with her family and their country, they would in no way let Goa's name have on a blemish on it, because a creepy pervert can't deal with women in bikinis.

It's high time we as individuals both men and women take up responsibility and see that no one can take undue advantage of anyone, and so like its our duty of protecting us and people around us vulnerable to these malignant parts of any society.

Why should we wait for something big to happen before we can raise our voice, these incidents may feel small but they are beginning of an antisocial mindset detrimental for humanity.

And for the answer to my second question- I still don't have it figured out, maybe someday I will.
